Autonomy

Lately the concept of autonomy has been coming up. Some have argued that some GC churches are good, some are bad, and the movement as a whole shouldn’t be blamed for the bad ones because every church is “autonomous.”

So since there seems to be enough interest in this lets go for it. Call this a planning board, brainstorming welcome…. I would like to see this be a reality. I agree with SChase, a Greyhound may be an option for some of the areas of most popularity. Judging by the cluster map, we would have awesome attendance. Also I like the idea of the emergent “conference” idea. Hope to see you all there…

Letter from a GCM staffer

The following was written by a current staff member of a GCM church a few days ago. It was not specifically written to decommissioned, rather it was posted in a livejournal discussion. However, given that it was publically posted, seems to be intended to be read by anyone, is very relevant to several recent conversations, and the discussion it was posted in is dead (he probably didn’t realize this when he posted it), I am posting it here:

mamad’s farewell (and a recap of her story) was posted in a previous thread as a comment, but I think it might get buried and be easily missed by future readers so I am re-posting it:

We’re off to New Zealand

We’d just like to announce that, like Bertrand and Agatha, Gen and I will also be giving up our posting and monitoring duties. Frankly, we just got bored and decided to pursue new opportunities in media and jet companies. We’ll be moving our operations to the New Zealand underground but will emerge periodically to read and post on the blog.

Legalism

I have been posting here for some time as “puff of purple smoke,” but now that I am a moderator I will expand upon my story a bit, and touch on a topic that bothered me for some time while in GC*.
